Hi all!
I just recently had two new girls start lessons with me. They are 4 and 6 (will be 5 and 7 in a few months). They've had two lessons with me and they will have one more before I have a recital in May.

My question is, they're so new, but I'd like to have them play something at the recital so they can attend, be encouraged and show of a little bit of what they've learned, but I have no clue what to do with them. Thoughts?

Last year I had a student play "Bubble Gum" from I once had a student "ride my hands" while I played a piece from her first book. I've had a student play a beginning piece while I sat next to them just for comfort. I am a firm believer that every student plays at the recital. The only time a student sat it out was a learning disabled student who sat next to me and "helped." Let us know what you decide!

I've had a student play Old McDonald on the black keys fromt eh primer book--with me playing the duet part. I announced that this student only had a month of lessons or whatever it was. If they are excited to play then even if it's one the very beginning pieces it is great!

Or even Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with colored post-its on the keys.
