Help please! I am having much trouble downloading the Tech/Perf midi files from the Primer CD, so I can burn one copy of all the songs to play on my cd player in my studio (the original copy won't play on it frown )

However I can only seem to burn the Lesson book songs. Are they a different file extension? Those songs have been enjoyed by many students and has helped with timing, etc.

I don't know what else to do. I am trying to save them and burn them in Windows Media Player, which I've successfully used many times.

Any advice is appreciated!

I can barely turn on my computer without help, but I think that you can only burn AUDIO FILES (like those on regular music CDs) but only SAVE midi files in a folder on your computer (to be played on a midi file player.

To burn MIDI files to CD, you need to record or convert them to audio files.

A company called ManiacTools makes a good-quality converter that uses SoundFonts to record a batch of MIDI files as MP3s. You can also set the tempo or transpose before you record.
Here are links to the converter for Mac or for Windows.

I'll send you an email with some further details.

For more information about how MIDI files are different from audio files, please read our Audio Support page.

Thanks again Jon - I will definitely look into this!

Just a quick question (and maybe it's answered on the links) - can the program convert to other than mp3? Not sure if my old player can play mp3s.

Windows Media Player can burn a regular audio CD from a set of MP3 files.

Thank you Jon for your help! I did try that site and it did convert but I couldn't burn (although I tried hard!) I was eventually able to burn through Windows Media Player. I often have troubles burning on my computer (it's not too old) but I did have success and look forward to having my students play along!
