I hope this is new to some of you; it was to me!

Dr. Mark E. Turner has generously shared many videos on YouTube, some of which address infants and toddlers, others preschoolers, and many for elementary and above. As his YouTube channel says, "Music and movement videos that present best practice as well as "out-of-the-box" ideas related to music, children, creative thinking, critical thinking, and you."

For early-childhood teachers, check these out:

Infants and Music (3 parts)

Toddlers and Music (3 parts)

WOW -- What a resource!! Thanks so much John for bringing this to our attention! I haven't seen any of these or anything like it -- any other oldies but goodies you'd like to pass on are totally appreciated!

What's neat about music is that we do not need to understand the student or teacher's language to benefit from hearing and watching them teach music!

Pop some popcorn and get into a comfy chair!

Since I started this thread I thought I'd stick this here instead of beginning a new thread.

GOOD NEWS! - I'm starting to work again, and a photographer came to my SOUND ARTIST preschool class Monday and took 25 pictures for a local family publication. I love the pic of the 2 hands - we were doing the song "Johnny Had One Friend", tapping fingers on the gathering drum:

Thanks to all for the encouragement. I only have 5 families now, and want to limit the number to 8 due to the space, but I hope to have multiple groups and also offer classes for 18 months on up.

Not sure how I missed this until recently, but I have been enjoying Mark Turner's website and FREE materials online at ARTS AS CONTEXT.

In a few classes this week we explored different ways to balance our bodies, using one of his instrumental tunes. It was a wonderful sight seeing a roomful of children ages 3-4 moving carefully about the room, balancing and freezing, to a funky mixolydian melody (with a #4) in 5/4! I highly recommend his work to any EC music professional. Go to "PRODUCTS" to download a 136-page PDF, and also to download the MP3s.

"RESOURCES", "MUSICA BELLA", and "SIDNELL LECTURES" also contain PDFs to read.
