When do you introduce scales (1 octave) to a student? Does PA actually introduce them in the method somewhere? I am aware that Alfred actually does, but I don't use Alfred.

I believe PA introduces the C Scale and G scale one octave hands alone in level 2B. Some of my students can play hands together at this point and others aren't quite ready yet.
I just picked up the FJH Classic Scale Book and it is an excellent resource. I'm wondering if I should get the book for my intermediate students. It has all major and minor scales one octave, two octaves, in 3rds, and 6ths as well as chords, cadences, arpeggios and fingering guides.

I teach pentascales for my young ones, then add the full octave when they are ready.

They introduce the C G and F scale - one octave hands alone, in the 2B book. They also list on the back the Achievement sheet #3 that lists all the scales one octave.
