As a fun little exercise, I've come up with variations of familiar phrases, song titles or lyric lines using composer names. Some I think are clever and some are just groaners. Please add others as you think of them. I need to start this thread now so that the first two will be timely. \:\)

  • Orff to Camp
  • Bach to School
  • Heller, How Are You?
  • Hildegard's Alive With the Sound of Music (as in Hildegard von Bingen \:D )
  • Offenbach at the Ranch
  • Samson and Delius
  • Schumann, Don't Bother Me!
  • Sondheim Over the Rainbow
  • Chopin Liszt (this of course is not original, but MUST be included \:D )
  • Ives Been Workin' on the Railroad

The last one's for John and the third one's for Eric and Vivace. \:\) \:\) \:\) Jason's been practicing the first one and more than a few of us may be invoking Schumann's name in that way when we aren't exactly pleased with all the posting members of this board. \:D

Here's a "classic":

When Mozart got Bach from meeting Beethoven, he couldn't Handel the competition, so he went into Haydn.

Since our own dear Eric is also a composer, albeit less well known to some:

Rockwell my soul with Busoni and Addinsell. Oh! Rockwell my soul! \:D

I'm having a really hard time coming up with something that doesn't involve Fux.

I'll put my thinking cap back on when I get in a less, um, impish mood. \:D

On his LISZT of things to do was to clean the bird CAGE, which was filled with SCHYTTE. "IVES seen cleaner BYRDS" he thought, but went ahead with his WORK. After a visit to the BARBER, he decided to buy a new set of boots, so he visited the SCHUMANN who lived on the other side of the BLOCH. He went to the mall, but there were long LYNES everywhere. When he arrived BACH home, he tried to unRAVEL the days events. After doing this, he felt much more composed!

She was so attractive and Shapey that he went up to her and asked, "Kodaly have a kiss, sweetie?". She slapped him and thought to herself, "What a Buttstedt!".

Anyone wanna be naughty and try Babbitt, Tippett, or Cocteau?

BTW, did anyone read the sequel to Gone With the Wind? It's great!

I thought up the idea the other day because I couldn't think of a clever way to use them in a sentence. All mine are courtesy of my very own twisted sense of humor. How about you Rhapsody? \:\)

Nope! I've been accused of being many things, \:o but "creative" isn't usually in the list. Perhaps I am a channeler for OK's creativity. Hey, OK, what's your sign? Maybe we were born under the same phase of the moon.
